The Islamic Personality Development in the Light of Sunnah (A Descriptive, analytical and Empirical study)

Abstract

Personality development and character building, be it of individuals or societies, has always been an immortal and one of the most vital subjects. It attracts more importance when the study is made in the light of Hadith and Sunnah as it highlights the multiple aspects of Sunnah and its role as stimulus in individuals and societies. What are the challenges in character building?  What kind of teachings were provided for character building? What are the fundamental principles which have been provided in Sunnah for intellectual, spiritual and characteristic development of individuals and societies? What was the life style of Prophet PBUH in lieu of application of these principles? Was there any difference considering the difference of social status between slave servants and free independents, between men and women, between common people and affluent while applying said principles? What are practical examples? What teachings were driving force in development of personalities of Islamic history? How these personalities left their impact on the culture and civilization of their times?

This research would explore that how much importance was given in Sunnah to individual and his character building. As well this study sheds light importance of individual and society in Sunnah and also highlights its exceptional role in the establishment of ideal Muslim personality. Similarly, it provides those intellectual, spiritual, moral, ethical and intuitive principles upon which an ideal Muslim personality is founded.
