Hanafi and Maliki Schools of Thought and Principles of Ijtihad: An Analytical Study
Abstract
Hanafi jurisprudence and al-Maliki jurisprudence, the two main schools of thought in Islam, are known for their unique principles of ijtihad, which provide a systematic and reasoned methodology for deriving Shariah rulings. These two schools of thought have their own primary sources and secondary sources, on which they deduce the rulings of Sharia. The principles of ijtihad in Hanafi jurisprudence include the Holy Qur'an, hadith of the Prophet, consensus, Qiyas, Istihsan, etc., while the principles of Maliki jurisprudence. Ijtihad includes the Holy Qur'an, Hadith of the Prophet, Amal Madinah, Maslahat, aka. Both schools of thought have played an important role in the development of Islamic jurisprudence. It helps us to live our lives according to Islamic teachings. Hanafi jurisprudence and Maliki jurisprudence are two important and valuable collections of Islamic jurisprudence. His principles of Ijtihad have helped Muslims to understand and follow the rules of Sharia. Despite the differences between these schools of thought, their common goal is to establish a society that conforms to Islamic teachings.
