It is widely acknowledged that no commentator, researcher or hadith scholar can truly master their discipline without a comprehensive understanding of the broader spectrum of sharia sciences, including their principles and foundations. Delving into the origins of these disciplines and deeply engaging with relevant works becomes imperative for a holistic understanding.
Similarly, ilm al-fiqh (the science of jurisprudence) is not isolated from the Qur'an and Prophetic traditions; rather, it serves as a guiding framework for comprehending and implementing them. Jurists and their works cannot be separated from Prophetic traditions. Jurists and their works are intrinsically linked to Prophetic traditions, perhaps even more so than hadith scholars, given the consensus among jurists on the centrality of hadith and Sunnah in Sharia rulings. Thus, proficiency in hadith and its sciences is fundamental for jurists.
This thesis aims to explore the significance and utility of jurisprudential texts in enriching the understanding of hadith, highlighting their pivotal role in Islamic legal scholarship.
