Methods of Resolving Disputes: The Light of Prophetic Tradition

Abstract

This research article explores the methods of resolving disputes through the lens of the Prophetic tradition, focusing on the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Drawing upon Islamic scriptures and scholarly interpretations, the study investigates various strategies employed by the Prophet (PBUH) to manage conflicts and promote peace within his community. Through a qualitative analysis of primary sources such as the Quran and Hadith, as well as secondary sources including commentaries and scholarly works, this paper elucidates the principles and techniques utilized by the Prophet (PBUH) in resolving disputes among individuals, tribes, and nations. The research highlights the relevance and applicability of these methods in contemporary contexts, emphasizing their ethical foundations and pragmatic effectiveness. By examining specific case studies and anecdotes from the Prophetic era, the article provides insights into the proactive approaches advocated by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in fostering reconciliation, mediation, and arbitration. Furthermore, the study explores the underlying principles of justice, empathy, and forgiveness embedded within the Prophetic model of conflict resolution. Overall, this research contributes to the discourse on conflict resolution by elucidating the timeless wisdom of the Prophetic tradition and its potential implications for contemporary peacemaking efforts.
